The lights and glamour of Hollywood will appear dim compared to the millions of Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights illuminating California for this year’s Cal Expo.
Global Winter Wonderland is a 17-acre park that will feature glowing attractions such as the Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower and the Golden Gate Bridge. Sacramento’s cultural diversity makes it the perfect host to highlight the main attractions from around the world.
Besides, the millions of LED lights, there will be 100 tons of steel framing and 200,000 feet of colourful Chinese silk. Workers have started welding steel and cutting patterns of silk to attach to metal frames at Cal Expo.
The display will light up the western end of the fairground. In addition to the lantern displays, there will be a dinosaur maze, holiday village and acrobats performing on two stages.
The company has brought in nearly 60 Chinese artisans to work with the silk and metal framing.
Promoters will hire nearly 100 people to staff the temporary theme park. The display will run Nov. 22 through Jan. 4
